Gauteng MEC Aims to Boost Women's Participation in Taxi Industry
Gauteng's MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has announced initiatives to increase women's involvement in the taxi industry. The department has allocated R2 million for enterprise development, leadership programs, and support for widows. Since 2024, the help desk has facilitated licence transfers and activations, provided counseling, and processed new licence applications. Diale-Tlabela emphasized that women are central to the industry's growth and future, but face challenges like accessing finance and competing in a male-dominated sector.2 sourcesSee all sources
