    Ukraine: NABU Detains Head of Prosecutor General's Cyber Department in Corruption Case

    The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have detained the head of the cyber department of the Office of the Prosecutor General, Sergei Kropyva, as part of a special operation to expose a criminal organization involved in protecting 'offices' and legalizing assets. The operation is focused on a network of fraudulent call centers and money laundering. Kropyva has been relieved of his duties pending the investigation.

    Former Russian Minister Charged in Finiko Financial Pyramid Case

    Former Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov has been charged with organizing a criminal community and large-scale fraud in connection with the Finiko financial pyramid case. The case involves the theft of approximately 5 billion rubles from 8,000 depositors. Nikiforov, who is currently abroad, is accused of being one of the shadow beneficiaries and organizers of the pyramid. The investigation believes that the stolen money was withdrawn abroad through a Kazan company partly owned by Nikiforov.
