
Civil Police Operations Target Drug Trafficking, Scams, and Money Laundering in Brazil
In a series of coordinated operations across Brazil, Civil Police forces have targeted organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking, scams, and money laundering. In Guarulhos, São Paulo, police found two call centers used for large-scale scams. In Itapetininga, five suspects were arrested for defrauding elderly people using the 'fake lawyer' scam. In Greater São Paulo, four people were arrested for drug trafficking and money laundering. In Pernambuco, eight suspects were arrested for drug trafficking, homicides, and corruption of minors. In Campinas, 22 warrants were executed for suspicion of fraud in Develop SP financing. In southern Bahia, an operation targets a criminal organization suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, homicides, robberies, extortion, and money laundering.
