Japan's Women's Volleyball Team Loses to Thailand in Asian Championship Semifinals
In the Asian Volleyball Championship semifinals held in Tianjin, China, world-ranked 6th Japan lost to 17th-ranked Thailand, the defending champions, in a 3-1 defeat. Despite winning all four matches in the first round, this is Japan's first loss in the tournament. Japan had not won the Asian Championship since 1999, and a win would have secured them a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Japan will now play in the bronze medal match.15 sourcesSee all sources
