    Buenos Aires Teenagers Spend Over 6 Hours Daily on Phones, 40% Show Mental Health Issues

    A joint investigation by the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires and the Institute of Technology of Buenos Aires (ITBA) found that secondary students in the city spend more than 6 hours a day on their cell phones, with 40% showing signs of depression. The study, which surveyed over 3,200 students, also found that the type of relationship with screens has a greater impact on socio-emotional well-being than the amount of time spent. Argentine teenagers spend more time on their phones than English and American counterparts. The City promotes initiatives like 'Compromiso Familiar' to reduce screen time and delay smartphone delivery.

    Ocean Warming to Shrink Marine Mollusks by 2100

    A study led by Isaac Trindade-Santos and Craig McClain projects that ocean warming could cause most marine mollusks to reduce their body size by 2100. The research, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, analyzed over 23,000 species in different ocean basins and projected changes under high and low greenhouse gas emission scenarios. The study challenges the widely held idea that ocean warming would simply reduce marine life. It found that some groups could shrink significantly, while others could experience size increases in certain areas, depending on the biology of each group and the conditions of each marine region.
