Buenos Aires Teenagers Spend Over 6 Hours Daily on Phones, 40% Show Mental Health Issues

A joint investigation by the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires and the Institute of Technology of Buenos Aires (ITBA) found that secondary students in the city spend more than 6 hours a day on their cell phones, with 40% showing signs of depression. The study, which surveyed over 3,200 students, also found that the type of relationship with screens has a greater impact on socio-emotional well-being than the amount of time spent. Argentine teenagers spend more time on their phones than English and American counterparts. The City promotes initiatives like 'Compromiso Familiar' to reduce screen time and delay smartphone delivery.
