    U.S. Violent Crime Plummets to 75-Year Low in 2025

    The FBI reported a significant drop in violent crime rates across the U.S. in 2025, with the murder rate reaching a 75-year low. Overall violent crime decreased by 9.3%, while the murder rate fell by 18.1%. This is the largest one-year decline on record since the FBI began tracking crime data in 1936. The report also showed decreases in robberies, rapes, and aggravated assaults, as well as a decline in property crimes. The FBI attributed the decrease to various factors but did not single out any specific cause.
