In separate incidents, Vietnamese police have thwarted 'network kidnapping' scams targeting college students in Ho Chi Minh City. In each case, fraudsters posed as police, threatened students with false drug charges, remotely controlled their phones, and demanded multi-million Vietnamese dong ransoms from their families.
