Planned Parenthood Closes Michigan Centers Due to Funding Cuts
Planned Parenthood of Michigan (PPMI) announced the permanent closure of three health centers in Lansing, Livonia, and Warren due to a $4.2 million drop in federal funding and Medicaid reimbursement restrictions pushed by national Republicans. The closures follow a comprehensive evaluation of PPMI's statewide network and come amidst warnings that reproductive health care providers across the Midwest face similar financial strains. PPMI President Paula Thornton Greear attributed the closures to Republican efforts to block Medicaid reimbursement for Planned Parenthood patients and the Trump administration's proposal to eliminate the Title X family planning program.4 sourcesSee all sources
