    Russian Telephone Scammer Detained in St. Petersburg

    St. Petersburg law enforcement officers have detained the organizer of a call center for telephone scammers. The suspect, a local resident born in 2004, placed and maintained equipment for fraudulent schemes to extort money from Russians. The activities of this technical center resulted in several tens of millions of rubles being stolen. During the search, two sim-boxes with 128 slots and over 100 sim-cards were seized. A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under part 3 of article 274.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

    Two Chinese Men Arrested for Currency Exchange Fraud in Cambodia

    Two Chinese men, PENG CHANGFA (51 years old) and LONG ZHELAN (47 years old), were arrested for defrauding $4800 at a currency exchange shop in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia on July 29. They exchanged the money into Cambodian currency, secretly took the original $4800 in cash, and fled on a motorcycle. The shop owner chased after them and alerted the police, who recovered all the stolen money. The suspects confessed to committing similar crimes twice before. The case is still under investigation.
