    Audit Finds DOGE's Savings Claims Unverifiable

    A government watchdog report found that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), initially led by Elon Musk, overstated its savings and took credit for work already underway. The Government Accountability Office audit, requested by Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), examined $110 billion of DOGE's claimed $215 billion in savings. It found that 108 of 264 leases were already in termination process before DOGE's existence, nearly 2,000 contracts were not actually terminated, and $27.4 billion in claimed savings came from contracts never terminated. DOGE did not respond to GAO's inquiries.

    Four Company Owners Plead Not Guilty to Making False Claims Under Career Development Programme 2.0

    Four company owners, including a woman, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to a total of 30 charges of making false claims under the Career Development Programme 2.0 to the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) in 2024. The accused, Wong Joon Hong, 40, Goh Chee Wai, 43, Neoh Wooi Lee, 50, and another woman, Phua Ai Ling, 45, made the plea after the charges were read out to them by Judge Irwan Suainbon. Wooi Lee, who is also the owner of Golden One Stop Services, D One Solution, As You Wish Enterprise, and Century SS Solution Company, faced 21 charges, while Chee Wai, as the owner of Tojeda Enterprise Sdn Bhd, was charged with six charges. Meanwhile, Joon Hong, who was charged as the owner of J.H Food Court, faced two charges, and Ai Ling, as the owner of Great Solutions Management, had one charge for the same offence.
