India's wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation surged to 11.39% in September, driven by a broad-based pick-up in prices of food, fuel, and manufactured goods. This is the highest inflation rate since the new WPI series began in April 2024. Key contributors to the increase were mineral oils, food articles, crude petroleum & natural gas, coal and lignite, and various manufactured products.
