La Paz Declares Red Alert Amidst Drought Risk and Low Water Levels
La Paz Mayor César Dockweiler has declared a red alert due to the risk of drought and low water levels in Hampaturi dams, caused by the El Niño phenomenon. The city is experiencing a significant decrease in water storage levels, with only half of the dry season passed. The mayor has called for immediate commitment from all La Paz institutions to protect water reserves. A campaign promoting responsible water use has been launched, and technical reports will be requested from EPSAS. The UMSA has also warned of the situation and called for water conservation.
