Hungary Restarts Paks Nuclear Power Plant as Danube Water Levels Rise

Hungary's Paks Nuclear Power Plant, which provides nearly half of the country's electricity, has begun restarting operations after water levels in the Danube River rose. The plant was forced to scale back output due to historically low water levels, which limited its cooling capacity. Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced the restart of the second reactor on Monday, with the first reactor having already resumed operations earlier. The plant had been operating at only about 10% capacity with just one of its eight turbines running. The recent rise in the Danube's level has provided some relief to the power grid.
