Daniel Ortega's regime in Nicaragua is facing international condemnation for proposing constitutional reforms that seek to dismantle the right to participate in public affairs. Amnesty International and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) have both denounced the initiative, which aims to extend the presidential term, permanently exclude opposition figures from elections, and further concentrate power.
