An investigation into alleged organized corruption, bribery, and document forgery at Menderes Municipality has resulted in the detention of lawyer Elifnur Gürcü. She was arrested on September 9, 2026, following the discovery of inappropriate WhatsApp messages exchanged with the municipality's mayor, İlkay Çiçek.
