Over 1800 Bangladeshis Stranded in Cambodia Due to Human Trafficking
Over 1800 Bangladeshis are stranded in Cambodia due to human trafficking networks. Civil society organizations urge the government to arrange special flights to repatriate them before the end of the Cambodian visa amnesty period. According to official figures, 1797 victims have been identified, with another 400 facing similar difficulties. Many were forced into illegal activities in call centers despite having valid documents, suffering illegal detention and abuse. The organization noted that while Cambodia has waived overstay fines, high airfare and administrative hurdles are still preventing victims from returning home. The government must ensure the safety of its citizens abroad.26 sourcesSee all sources
