Researchers in China have developed a non-invasive method using focused ultrasound to stimulate deep brain regions and restore consciousness in patients with chronic brain injuries. In a preliminary study, 13 out of 24 patients showed measurable behavioral improvements, with one patient regaining the ability to speak, eat, and walk with support after 30 days of therapy. The treatment protocol involves three sessions per week, lasting 20 minutes each, over four weeks, targeting the thalamus via MRI-guided focused ultrasound.
