Google is leveraging AI to identify and fix security bugs in Chrome at an unprecedented rate. In recent releases (Chrome 149 and 150), AI helped fix 1,072 bugs, more than the previous 23 releases combined. This includes a critical vulnerability that had gone undetected for over 13 years. To keep up with this increased pace of bug discovery, Google is piloting twice-weekly security updates. Additionally, they are testing 'dynamic patching' which allows most fixes to be applied without requiring a full browser restart. For macOS users, Chrome will now auto-restart in the background to apply updates when all windows are closed.
