Researchers at Ohio State University and Zhejiang Laboratory have developed Scentronic, a device that can detect, transmit, and reproduce aromas remotely using artificial intelligence. The system, described in Science Advances, can recognize and transmit various scents, including beer, cake, coffee, and wine, with an accuracy of 73% for individual odors and 71% for combinations. It aims to incorporate smell into digital experiences, with potential applications in virtual reality, online shopping, and health research.
