The upcoming 6G mobile standard will integrate radar functions capable of detecting people and measuring their heart rate through walls, warns German data protection authorities. The technology, known as ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication), allows the network to evaluate the environmental space and identify people by their walking style or gestures using machine learning algorithms. The major concern is the impossibility of obtaining consent, as the system automatically scans anyone within its coverage area, even if they do not carry a mobile phone. Researchers are developing options to disable the detection mode to protect privacy. Commercial implementation of 6G networks is estimated for the year 2030.
