Academics Warn of Legal Authoritarianism and Constitutional Dictatorship in Chile's Proposed Reform

Academics Javier Couso and Arturo Fontaine, both appearing on CNN Chile's #CNNPrime, have expressed serious concerns about the proposed constitutional reform in Chile. Couso, a constitutional lawyer and academic at UDP, described a letter about the reform as 'concerning' and containing elements contrary to Chile's constitutional tradition. Chile, went further, stating that if the government insists on the current path, it risks leading to 'legal authoritarianism' and even the construction of a 'constitutional dictatorship'.
