Eighteen individuals, including fifteen Chinese nationals and three locals, were fined RM4,500 to RM5,000 each after pleading guilty to criminal conspiracy charges for online fraud offenses. The syndicate operated from various locations, using fake investment schemes or manipulated explicit photos to run 'love scams' (pig butchering) and extort victims. The court sentenced the first group of four defendants to a higher fine of RM5,000 each, while the remaining fourteen were fined RM4,500 each. If unable to pay the fine, they face six months imprisonment.
