CBI Books Ex-DGCA Official, Aviation Firms for 'Corruption', 'Favouritism'

The CBI has registered a case against a former official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Captain Anil Gill, and several aviation-related companies for allegedly abusing official position, extending undue favours to select flying training organisations, and facilitating suspicious aircraft transactions. The case involves Gill's family members and close relatives who were directors or shareholders in these companies. The FIR alleges that Gill facilitated the purchase of training aircraft at nominal prices through 'benami/shell entities' managed by his close relatives and leased them to favoured flying training organisations at exorbitant rates, generating massive kickbacks. The CBI also alleges regulatory favouritism and procedural irregularities.
