The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the first robot capable of drawing blood independently. The device, called Aletta, can locate veins, insert needles, and collect blood samples autonomously in outpatient clinics under the supervision of a single phlebotomist who can oversee up to three machines at once. This approval promises to transform the way millions of patients undergo one of the most common medical tests.
