Maradona Death Trial: Expert Testifies on Ignored Warning Signs

The trial over the death of Diego Maradona entered a new stage with the testimony of Dr. Carlos Mauricio Cassinelli, a former director of the Police Scientific Medicine. Cassinelli participated in the autopsy and the interdisciplinary medical board report that concluded the actions of Maradona's healthcare team were inadequate and reckless. He testified that Maradona showed warning signs of deteriorating health during his home hospitalization, including swelling of lower limbs, fingers, snoring, shortness of breath, hypertension, and tachycardia, which went unheeded. Seven healthcare professionals are on trial for potential homicide with eventual intent.
