President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan announced that a project is ready to construct a power transmission line from mainland Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory. This project aims to eventually connect to Turkey and Europe, expanding Azerbaijan's electricity exports. Azerbaijani specialists have already analyzed Armenia's territory for tower installation. Aliyev hopes the Armenian side will not delay the decision, citing potential energy crisis risks if the Armenian Energy System (AES) closes. The implementation of this project, part of the TRIPP project, is expected to begin soon.
