Montenegro's Water Quality: A Serious Challenge
Montenegro, despite its abundant water resources, faces severe water pollution issues, affecting rivers, lakes, and the sea. A report by the Agency for Environmental Protection revealed that 66.7% of surveyed locations had water status outside the required level, with 21.2% having poor quality and 9.1% very poor. Only 11 measuring points had the required water quality status. The lack of adequate wastewater treatment facilities contributes to this problem, with 54.4% of wastewater from settlements being discharged untreated into rivers. Montenegro aims to build wastewater treatment plants in 37 municipalities but faces numerous challenges in achieving this goal.5 sourcesSee all sources
