Peru Declares State of Emergency in Five High-Risk Prisons for 60 Days
The Peruvian government has declared a state of emergency in five high-risk prisons for 60 days to strengthen security and penitentiary control. The affected prisons are Challapalca, Cochamarca, Miguel Castro Castro, Ancón I, and Trujillo Varones, located in Tacna, Pasco, Lima, and La Libertad. The measure includes the outer perimeter of the facilities up to a radius of 200 meters, suspending certain constitutional rights within the zone.
