Turkey Urges Iran to Halt Attacks on Kurdish Groups
Turkey has pressured Iran to stop its drone attacks on Kurdish opposition groups in northern Iraq, fearing that continued strikes could push the Kurds closer to Israel and undermine Turkey's peace process with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Ankara's concerns were conveyed during a visit by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz to Tehran for the funeral of late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Turkey for helping to prevent an Israeli plan to foment an armed insurrection by Kurdish groups in western Iran.15 sourcesSee all sources
