    Malaysian Police Bust International Phone Scam Syndicate

    Malaysian police have raided an abandoned resort in Negeri Sembilan, arresting 40 individuals involved in an international phone scam syndicate. The syndicate, operating for about a month, posed as Chinese prosecutors and police, targeting Chinese nationals, including those residing in the US. They used video conferencing software to intimidate victims and offered to help them evade arrest in exchange for money. Police seized 82 mobile phones, 3 laptops, Chinese passports, and scam scripts. The suspects, aged between 19 and 63, include 34 Chinese nationals, 3 Myanmar nationals, 1 Taiwanese national, and a Malaysian couple.

    Cybercrime Surge in Moscow; Kuzbass Sees Decline in Citizen Cases, Increase in Enterprise Attacks

    In Moscow, cybercrimes accounted for 44.7% of total registered crimes over nine months in 2026, with a 16% increase in remote thefts among minors. The clearance rate and number of identified suspects also rose. Meanwhile, in Kuzbass, while citizen cases decreased by over 50%, enterprise and organization-targeted cyberattacks grew significantly, placing the region among the top five in Russia for such incidents.
