    Arrests Made in Real Estate Scams Across Vietnam

    In recent weeks, Vietnamese authorities have made several arrests related to real estate scams. In Hanoi, two women were charged for allegedly scamming home buyers by claiming they could guarantee the purchase of social housing units. Meanwhile, in Nghe An province, a woman named Võ Thị Ngân was arrested for defrauding over 190 billion Vietnamese dong by promising high returns on real estate investments. Additionally, a joint operation between Lao and Vietnamese police resulted in the arrest of 64 Vietnamese suspects involved in an online fraud syndicate that has defrauded thousands of Vietnamese victims since early 2022.

    Mayor of Concarneau Charged with Rape

    Quentin Le Gaillard, the 28-year-old mayor of Concarneau, Finistère, has been charged with rape following a complaint filed in January 2026. The right-wing elected official was placed under custody and then under strict judicial control, with prohibitions on contact with the victim and from appearing at her home. He initially denied the allegations and later announced his intention to file a complaint for 'calumnious denunciation'.
