Ukrainian Billionaire Vadim Novinsky Granted Serbian Citizenship Amidst Treason Suspicions
Ukrainian billionaire and former lawmaker Vadim Novinsky has been granted Serbian citizenship through an accelerated procedure, despite facing treason suspicions and sanctions in Ukraine. The decision was made by Serbia's government, with Prime Minister Dzhuro Matsut signing the order. Novinsky, who is worth an estimated $1.4 billion, left Ukraine in June 2022 and has not returned since. He is suspected of promoting Russian influence through religious circles and inciting religious hatred. The Serbian government did not explain why granting him citizenship was in the state's interest.
