    50 Prisoners Escape from Luebo Prison in DRC

    At least 50 prisoners escaped from Luebo prison in Kasai province, central-southern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), leaving the prison empty. The escape occurred during the night of Thursday to Friday, with the fugitives forcing prison accesses and fleeing after stealing three weapons. Authorities suspect some prison security agents' collaboration. This is not the first prison escape incident in DRC, with a similar event in Makala prison in Kinshasa resulting in 129 deaths in September 2024.

    Israeli Court Bans Use of Crocodiles for Prison Security

    An Israeli court has temporarily banned the use of crocodiles for prison security following a lawsuit from animal rights organization Let the Animals Live. The Jerusalem District Court blocked the initiative, which was planned for the 'Kziot' prison in the Negev desert, where terrorism-related inmates are held. Authorities wanted to place crocodiles in moats around the correctional facility. Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the verdict, stating that the court 'sided with terrorists' as inmates feared the crocodiles' presence.
