Mali: Over 900 Former Combatants Join Army
In Mali, over 900 former combatants from various armed groups have joined the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) through the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration, and Integration (DDR-I) program. This initiative aims to support national reconciliation and strengthen stability in affected regions. The process has seen two major waves of integration: initially 254 former combatants, followed by over 300 former members of the Movement for the Salvation of Azawad (MSA). The program, launched in February 2025, aims to integrate a total of 3,000 former combatants into the defense forces.5 sourcesSee all sources
