Northrop Grumman's YFQ-48A Talon Blue UCAV Completes First Autonomous Flight
Northrop Grumman's YFQ-48A Talon Blue, an unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), successfully conducted its first fully autonomous flight on October 3. The aircraft, developed under Northrop Grumman's internal Project Talon, performed tasks such as taxiing, takeoff, in-flight maneuvering, and landing without human intervention. The Talon Blue is designed to operate alongside fifth-generation fighters like the F-35 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor, and future NGAD aircraft. It competes with other UCAVs like Boeing's MQ-28 Ghost Bat, Lockheed Martin's Vectis, and Kratos' FQ-58 Valkyrie.3 sourcesSee all sources
