    India Sets 1-in-10,000 Casualty Rate for Private Space Firms' Re-entry Activities

    India's National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has issued new guidelines for private space firms, mandating that the casualty risk of any planned space object re-entry must be limited to less than 1 in ten thousand. The guidelines also require authorization from IN-SPACe for any Indian entity planning such re-entry activities, whether within or outside Indian territory.

    Rocket Lab Secures Third Multi-Launch Deal with iQPS for Three Dedicated Missions

    Rocket Lab has signed a new three-launch Electron contract with iQPS, marking their third multi-launch booking in less than a year. This deal brings iQPS' total launches with Rocket Lab to 18, with missions scheduled to begin in late 2027. Each mission will deploy one QPS-SAR satellite to a 575km orbit, expanding iQPS' synthetic aperture radar Earth-imaging constellation. iQPS also purchased Rocket Lab's Motorized Lightband separation system. This deal secures dedicated launch capacity as Electron demand reaches record levels.

    African Mission to Moon: Listening to the Universe's Oldest Signals

    The Africa2Moon project, led by African institutions, will send three spherical radio telescopes to the Moon's south pole aboard China's Chang'e-8 mission in 2029. These 'BALLS' devices will create a small network of radio telescopes to observe very low radio frequencies, allowing scientists to detect signals from the oldest and most distant cosmic objects. The far side of the Moon is considered the 'quietest' place in the radio spectrum near Earth, free from human activity and atmospheric disturbances.
