Drought Causes Lake Constance Water Level to Drop Below Critical Mark
Due to persistent drought, the Lake Constance water level has dropped below 2.50 meters, an unusually low level for this time of year. The drop is attributed to insufficient snowmelt from the Alps after a snow-poor winter, followed by months of insufficient rainfall and high evaporation during the warm summer. The German Weather Service expects some rainy days, but it remains uncertain whether this will raise the water levels. While the current level is not an all-time record, it is significantly lower than usual for this time of year.6 sourcesSee all sources
