Police Inspector Arrested for Extortion in Armstrong Murder Case
A police inspector in Chennai has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from a businessman by threatening to implicate him in the murder case of Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader K. Armstrong in July 2022. The inspector, Mohammad Buhari, was working at St Thomas Mount police station and had been demanding money from the businessman, Akil Kumar, for the past two years. Kumar alleged that Buhari threatened to falsely link him to the Armstrong murder case or a drug peddling case if he did not pay.
