René Benko Granted Ankle Monitor, Ends Prison Stint Early
Convicted real estate speculator René Benko has been granted an ankle monitor, allowing him to leave prison early and serve the remainder of his investigative custody in electronic house arrest. The decision was made during a hearing at the Innsbruck Regional Court, where Benko presented a 60 sqm rental apartment as his planned residence. Despite initial skepticism, the court ruled that Benko does not pose a flight risk and that the risk of evidence tampering has decreased. Benko's lawyer confirmed the ruling, stating that his client can now leave the Ziegelstadl prison and move into his private accommodation.9 sourcesSee all sources
