International Aid Floods In After Colombia Earthquake
Following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Colombia, international aid has begun pouring in. The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, CAF, has announced a donation of US$500,000 to support humanitarian efforts. The World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have also pledged resources, with the IDB activating a $300 million emergency financing fund. This comes as the Colombian government assesses damages and begins planning for reconstruction, with estimates suggesting a fiscal effort of up to $20 trillion may be required.
