    Germany Expels Over 400 Russians, Including Diplomats, Since Ukraine War

    Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Germany has expelled over 400 Russian citizens, including more than 80 diplomats deemed to be spies. The expulsions began in spring 2022 and continued until January 2026, with the last expulsion being the deputy military attaché of the Russian embassy in Berlin. Most of those expelled were employees of special services working under diplomatic cover. The German authorities have been treating almost any Russian citizen on German territory as suspicious.
