Hellenic Energy Company Launches €50 Million Battery Storage Facility in Thessaloniki
Hellenic Energy Company has inaugurated a €50 million energy storage facility in Thessaloniki, Greece, with a capacity of 100 MW and 200 MWh. The project, developed by HELLENiQ Renewables, aims to monetize renewable energy sources and reduce production constraints. It consists of three storage stations using lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology and is connected to the power transmission network via a new 33/150 kV transformer station and an underground high-voltage cable. The project created around 100 direct jobs during construction and was selected under the first public call by the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy and Water.2 sourcesSee all sources
