   AI's E-Waste Crisis: A Looming Ecological Disaster

A new report warns that the rapid growth of AI and its data centers will lead to a significant increase in electronic waste (e-waste). By 2030, the AI industry could generate 13 million tons of discarded equipment annually, containing hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium. The energy required to power these data centers also contributes to air pollution, causing health issues. Environmentalists urge caution in the race for AI development to mitigate these ecological disasters.

Russian Scientists Discover New Warm Current in Arctic

Russian scientists have identified a previously unknown warm surface current in the Arctic, stretching over 1000 km in the Barents and Kara Seas. Named the 'Keldysh Current' after the research vessel 'Academician Mstislav Keldysh', this current carries large volumes of warm Atlantic water eastwards, challenging earlier beliefs about Arctic ocean currents. The discovery, based on data from 25 marine expeditions between 1995 and 2024, significantly impacts understanding of sea ice dynamics in the Russian Arctic.
