CPJ Removes Combatant Journalists from Database
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has removed 28 people from its database of journalists and media workers killed in the Israel-Gaza conflict after determining they had engaged in combat. The review began after Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad published obituaries identifying some individuals on CPJ's list as their fighters. CPJ maintains that affiliation with a militant organization is not sufficient for exclusion if a person was working as a civilian journalist and not directly participating in hostilities.9 sourcesSee all sources
