Victor Wembanyama Named Captain of French Basketball Team
Victor Wembanyama, the 22-year-old San Antonio Spurs star, has been named captain of the French national basketball team for the upcoming 2027 FIBA World Cup European qualifiers. He will lead the team in their games against Slovenia and Sweden. Wembanyama, who helped France win a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is seen as the leader of France's next generation of players. This is his first time captaining the team since the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Robs Francisco Lindor's Grand Slam, Hits Two Home Runs
San Diego Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. made a spectacular leaping catch at the wall to rob New York Mets' Francisco Lindor of a grand slam in the second inning. Tatis Jr. also hit two home runs, a 452 ft. blast in the first inning and a two-run shot in the fifth, leading the Padres to a 5-2 win over the Mets. The Padres remain in second place in the NL West, while the Mets are last in the NL East.
