AfD Gains in North Rhine-Westphalia, Overtaking CDU
A series of polls indicate that the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is gaining ground in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), currently the most populous German state. According to a Forsa poll, if a Bundestag election were held now, AfD would be the strongest party in NRW with 24%, ahead of the CDU (22%) and the Greens (18%). This represents a significant shift from previous polls, where the CDU held a more substantial lead. The polls also show strong dissatisfaction with Chancellor Merz, with only 11% of NRW voters expressing satisfaction.10 sourcesSee all sources
