Rescuers Race Against Time to Reopen Highway to Mudslide-Hit Gyirong Port
Rescuers are working around the clock to reopen a major highway leading to the mudslide-stricken Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. The G216 national highway, which was washed out by mudslides, is being repaired using heavy machinery. As of Tuesday morning, the road had been restored to within one kilometer of the port. Over 150 rescuers and heavy equipment are involved in the operation, racing against time to facilitate the entry of key equipment, personnel, and supplies into the disaster area.19 sourcesSee all sources
