Ukraine: Additional Financial Assistance for Captured Military Personnel
The Ukrainian government has approved a mechanism for providing additional financial assistance to military personnel released from Russian captivity who require long-term inpatient treatment due to illnesses contracted or exacerbated during their time in captivity. The Verkhovna Rada passed the relevant law last year, but the calculation mechanism was not regulated until now. The Office of the Military Ombudsman reported that military personnel who need inpatient treatment for more than 30 days will receive an additional monthly payment of 50,000 UAH. This extends financial support to released prisoners of war not only with injuries but also with health issues resulting from captivity.2 sourcesSee all sources
