    Menteri Besar Perlis Suspended from BERSATU for Two Election Cycles

    Menteri Besar of Perlis, Abu Bakar Hamzah, has been suspended from BERSATU for two election cycles effective October 13. The suspension was confirmed by BERSATU Perlis Chairman, Izizam Ibrahim, who stated that a letter regarding this action was issued last week. The letter, dated October 14, 2026, signed by BERSATU's Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan, informed Abu Bakar's suspension under Section 22.5 of BERSATU's constitution for violating Section 9.1.4 of the party's constitution and its Code of Ethics and Conduct for Members. Abu Bakar has been removed from all his party positions and barred from making any statements on behalf of BERSATU during the suspension period. He has 14 days to appeal to the party's Appeal Board.
